Earlier this month I had the pleasure of opening my first curatorial effort, ‘Stories From Vancouver’, at WALRUS on Cambie Street. The exhibition features work by myself alongside 8 talented Canadian photographers – Goh Iromoto, PK Ben Huang, Brett Beadle, Talya Florian, Nicole Westman, Bev Davies, Randy Laybourne and Rafal Gerszak – and is a collection of documentary photography from this great grey city.

If you haven’t been to see the exhibition already you can still check it out – ‘Stories From Vancouver’ will be on display until the middle of June. Gallery details below:

I’d like express my tremendous gratitude to Daniel and Caroline at WALRUS for offering up such a terrific space, as well as to Bob at www.vancouverisawesome.com for promoting the exhibition. Thank you.

I am absolutely elated to announce that Briarpatch Magazine and I have been nominated for a National Magazine Award in the category of Photojournalism & Photo Essay. This is a first for me and a tremendous honour to be included alongside so many other outstanding nominees. Winners will be announced June 4th – wish us luck!

The complete list of nominees in all categories is available on the National Magazine Awards website here, and you may download a PDF version of ‘Salt & Earth’ from the July 2009 issue of Briarpatch Magazine by clicking here. The essay was produced over the course of 18 months for my undergraduate thesis at Ryerson University and was presented in April of 2008 as a series of gelatin silver prints.
